Bio
Leslie Gold, known affectionately as the "RadioChick", speaks to men like no other woman. With a Style that is an equal balance of smart, funny and sexy she and her crew have created a show that is a certified hit. Gold's broadcasting history is impressive. At WNEW, the Radiochick rapidly took the show from 17th to 3rd among men. Hosting the morning show at Q104.3, she was the only woman headlining a morning drive radio show in New York. In little more than a year she delivered the highest morning show ratings in the station's history. After hosting successful radio and TV shows in the New York market, she extended her reach nationally on Sirius Satellite Radio, creating one of the most popular and exciting shows on the service, and then returned to terrestrial radio holding down afternoon drive in 92.3 Free FM.
Since arriving in New York, The RadioChick and her producer have launched a nationally televised stealth attack on Kathie Lee Gifford. During Gifford's guest hosting appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, the pair stormed the stage mid-show, tossing Gifford a badly needed bra, like a live grenade. Weeks alter, Gold's listeners staged a surprise tribute to her by wrapping bras on the all the statues throughout Central Park. A few months later, as another a show of devotion, they hung a giant 75 foot bra off the Triboro Bridge. One of her most celebrated moments came when Gold's employer deemed an almost topless billboard of her too controversial and ordered it down. A media frenzy ensued.
The heart of The RadioChick's show, however, is the irreverent, edgy world she creates each day in studio with the help of her producer, Butchy Brennan, and her sidekick comedian Chuck Nice. Past shows have featured segments such as What's My Perversion, The Wheel of Wife Beaters, The Chick on Chicks, Valentine's Day Divorce and The Flaming Stripper Bar B Q as well as calls from show regulars such as Jesus, Bill Cosby, Barry White, Bono and Leslie's own body part "Muffy". Celebrities who stop by include many from the cast of the "Sopranos", rockers such as Ted Nugent, Steven Tyler, and Jon Bon Jovi and movie actors including Willem Dafoe, Robert Duvall and Sylvester Stallone, to name just a handful.
A graduate of Syracuse University and the Harvard Graduate School of Business, prior to her entry into radio, Gold owned and operated Bishop Manufacturing Company, a successful medium-sized building products manufaturing company. After 10 years, she sold the 160-employee company and turned her attention to radio, a longtime passion. The break into the business she worked for free at a new defunct 1000-watt radio station in Connecticut. Fueled by delusions of grandeur, but completely ignorant about the radio business, she somehow landed a paying job at WRKO in Boston. Her show eared several industry awards and emerged as one of the most popular evening shows in the station's history as a talk station.
Leslie has hosted her own television show in the New York Market called "The RadioChick on the Prowl" and had many other television appearances including Larry King Live, Nightline, The CBS Early Show, ABC Nightly News, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, Fox News, WB11 News, as well as numerous local television appearances. She has also been featured in print in the Associated Press, The New York Times, Playboy, Penthouse, Glamour, Complete Woman magazine, The NY Post, New York Daily News, Crain's New York, among many others.
